How MCS acts for its clients
MCS provides insurance brokerage services with the aim of identifying insurance cover appropriate to the requirements communicated by its clients.
As an insurance broker, MCS acts independently from insurance companies and represents the interests of its clients in its insurance-brokerage activity.
Depending on the type of insurance and the circumstances, MCS may:
- identify and discuss your insurance requirements;
- obtain quotations from relevant insurance companies;
- compare relevant cover, conditions and available options;
- explain material differences between insurance proposals;
- provide personalised insurance-brokerage advice;
- assist with arranging the selected insurance policy;
- assist with policy administration; and
- provide assistance with claims and communication with the insurer where this forms part of the MCS service.
The final availability, premium, acceptance, exclusions, limits and policy conditions remain subject to the relevant insurer’s underwriting and policy terms.
Information and demands and needs
Before arranging insurance, MCS needs sufficient information about your circumstances, requirements and objectives to understand the cover you are seeking.
The information required will depend on the type of insurance. You should provide complete and accurate answers to questions concerning the risk to be insured.
Insurance companies may rely on the information supplied when assessing a risk and deciding whether, and on what terms, they are prepared to provide cover.
If relevant information is inaccurate or omitted, this may affect the insurer’s assessment, the terms of the policy or, in circumstances permitted by applicable law, the handling of a claim.
Insurance companies and comparison
MCS works with multiple insurance companies and can consider different insurance options depending on the type of risk, insurer appetite, customer circumstances and available products.
Not every insurer or every insurance product available in the Spanish market will necessarily be included in every comparison.
The insurers approached and the options considered depend on the particular insurance requirement and the market available for that risk.
Where MCS provides a recommendation, it will be based on the information supplied by the client and the insurance options considered relevant to those requirements.
Remuneration
MCS may be remunerated for its insurance-brokerage services in one or more of the following ways.
MCS may receive commission from an insurance company in relation to insurance business arranged through MCS.
Where applicable, MCS may agree professional fees directly with a client. Such fees will be disclosed and agreed where required.
In appropriate cases, remuneration may consist of a combination of insurer commission and fees paid by the client.
MCS may charge agreed administration or service costs in addition to the insurance premium where applicable.
MCS may also receive remuneration from insurers for ancillary services associated with insurance distribution, including services relating to premium collection or the overall portfolio of insurance business intermediated by MCS.
Where other companies within the wider group provide separate services to insurers, such as reinsurance, underwriting or consultancy services, those companies may receive their own fees or commissions for those separate services.
Reinsurance arrangements may also be used in connection with certain risks. Where appropriate and legally permitted, information relating to a risk may be shared with relevant reinsurance intermediaries and/or (re)insurers for that purpose.
If you would like clarification about how MCS is remunerated in relation to your insurance, you may ask your usual MCS contact.
Conflicts of interest
MCS maintains measures designed to identify, prevent and manage conflicts of interest that could arise in connection with insurance-distribution activities.
Where a conflict cannot be adequately prevented or managed, appropriate information will be provided where required by applicable law.
